Survey says: Buy the Art that You Like

by Baslee Troutman

Confidence in Contemporary Art Market Has Crashed, Survey Says they want to see something NEW, a new STYLE.
If you follow others blindly, then you end up where they are, perhaps in the mess that we are in now with the economy ..... pepole want hope, inspiration, optimism, faith, growth, meaning - so, let's build on that foundations and be there when they decide to stop holding their breath and decide we are all blessed and have much to live for. A Toast to Life!!

Each one of us, individually, all that matters is what we want to show and how we want to express ourselves with our own personal choices.
Rule #1 in choosing and buying ART.
BUY WHAT YOU LIKE. Art is not just subjective, it’s personal.
Rule #2
BUY the highest quality fine art print that you can afford.
Rule #3
Buy art that has themes and styles and designs and colors, that have lasting value. Ones that we can get close to, and will still love several years from now because it’s beauty and expression will hold over time.

Art’s purpose is to gratify us and satisfy our needs and desires. We not only need to express ourselves by decorating our homes and offices to create environments that are pleasing to us but we want to proudly show and share with others who we are and what’s important to us. It’s gratifying to us, and we anticipate the enjoyment others will receive and the attention our art will get by others as they find themselves taken in by the colors, the tone, the mood, the story.

You have great flexibility in choosing art that is attractive for it’s impact, expressing a point of view, the quality or style. We all want to belong and experience a connection with the thoughts and ideas that the art work presents, and have others join with us. It is very personal, the relationship that develops between a person and the art. We are attracted to scenes and settings that we can relate to, understanding the meaning and appreciate that we can identify with the art and the artist.

Art allows us to create, give and receive attention. All of us open ourselves to receiving compliments on our choices and can find it fulfilling that we own art that is fresh, real and unique. That becomes part of us and represents us. We can feel good when whenever we view it, comfortable with it’s statement, value, importance and significance. We commit to the art we buy and look forward to the rewards that it will bring us.

Purchasing art always initially creates a little bit of doubt. We picture where we will place the art, how it will look, how others will react and if they will like and appreciate it as much as we do. Especially if we are giving art prints as a gift to another, purchasing art will evoke the same types of considerations about how other will perceive the art. Go back to rule #1, rule #2 and rule #3. Buy what you like and the highest quality you can afford. Buy art that has themes and styles and designs and colors, that have lasting value. Ones that we can get close to, and we’ll still love several years from now because it’s beauty and expression will hold over time.

Much of what we buy is functional, like the clothes we wear, the car we drive. Yet it also reflects aspects of ourselves, it lets others see who we are and what we find rewarding or pleasing. Art is the same, functional but very personal. We have plenty of walls in our homes and offices to decorate, and we’re always on the hunt for exceptional gifts to give to others and be seen fondly and remembered, we need those things. But Art satisfies our desires for many different reasons, both creatively and intellectually.

ART IS ABOUT YOU!
The fine art prints that we buy is as much about who we are as it is about the artist. Once you put it on your walls, you are the artist, it is an extension of you.
